Hello World and Happy 2014!
After spending a few days in sunny California with our close friends, I feel rejuvenated and ready to start the new year. But unlike the tradition of writing down a long list of to-dos, I figured I would start the year by acknowledging all the things that I am thankful for. One of the first things that comes to mind is friendship. Blame it on our recent trip, but being surrounded by all our dear, old friends, reminded me of how much our friendships and relationships define our life. And how thankful I am to have these friends.
We moved out of California more than 2 years ago and this was our first visit back. In the meantime, we lived in New Jersey for 2 years and are based in Nashville now. While it has been great to live in other parts of the country and sample different lifestyles, none of that would have much meaning without the company of special folks to share it with. While family is the most important unit of life, having friends really makes a difference. We made some really good friends in New Jersey, too, and I definitely feel that that helped us navigate a new place, and that terrible Northeast winter! I am sure we will forge new friendships in Nashville with time. The people here are especially warm and friendly, and I have not felt out of place at all.
So as we begin another year, lets take some time to be thankful for the friends in our lives for bringing more meaning to it. Whether its my close pals in India, California, New Jersey, and those among other parts of the world, I am truly grateful for each and everyone, and the precious moments we have shared. You have all helped mould me into the person I am today, and continue to set an example for my son, who is forging close ties of his own in life.
Thank you for being there.
